Movistar lost two of its most important men from last year, Oier Lazkano and Alex Aranburu, but it seems that rather than missing them at the start of 2025, it is the riders who are missing riding for the team. This is certainly not how things were expected to pan out.
So far, neither Aranburu at Cofidis nor Lazkano at Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe have started the season with too much success. On the other hand, Movistar Team is finding results with their substitutes like Iván Romeo, Javi Romo or Jon Barrenetxea, who are performing at a high level in the early stages of the year.
Of course we expect Oier and Alex to turn this complicated situation around and start performing, it is not easy to change teams and get results from the start, but so far they have not. Here is a summary of their performances:
