Demi Vollering looks forward to Tour de France Femmes Grande Départ in her home region: "It is all so special for me here, so finding motivation is not difficult"

Unlike her teammate Lotte Kopecky, Demi Vollering will skip Giro d'Italia Donne this year in order to fully prepare for her other goals - the Olympics Games and special Tour de France Femmes, which starts on her basically home roads in Rotterdam.

"I will do an altitude training course during the Giro. So I will skip the Giro in the run-up to the Games," the SD Worx - Protime leader tells WielerFlits.

In contrary, Tour de France Femmes is the absolute highlight of the season for the winner of the last edition. "For me, the Tour is one of the biggest goals there is. It is to my advantage that it is all so special for me here, so finding motivation is not difficult," Vollering confirms.

"Every time I ride past, I look at Veloviewer to see the Tour route. So I already know exactly where we are going to race. Two weeks ago I sent a photo of the finish to Lorena Wiebes and asked if she was ready yet," she laughs.

Although the selection for the Olympic Games has not yet been announced, Vollering is also preparing for that competition. "I still have to wait for the selection, but of course I really hope so. I will prepare myself for it, then I will at least be alert," concludes the Dutch champion.
