Daryl Impey makes immediate return to peloton following retirement as Sports Director at Israel - Premier Tech

With his long and successful career as a rider in the professional peloton coming to an end after the 2023 season, Daryl Impey has already secured a position for next year, extending his time at Israel - Premier Tech as a new Sports Director among two fellow backroom staff additions.

“We are excited to welcome Tim Elverson, Patrick McCarty, and Daryl Impey to our management and performance teams," says Kjell Carlström, Israel - Premier Tech’s General Manager to the team's official website. "All three bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the team and will be instrumental in the development of our young riders and achieving our performance goals in 2024.”

Having spent a decade and a half competing at the top level, Impey took a number of top victories during his career, including a stage of the 2019 Tour de France, overall victory at the Tour Down Under in both 2018 and 2019, plus nine victories in the time-trial of the South African national championships.

“I’m glad the team has given me the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and experience,” says Impey. “After 16 years in the peloton, it’s nice to be able to put something back into the sport. I feel like I’ve got a lot to offer and it’s nice to be on the other side of the fence. I know I’ll enjoy doing this role. I’m going to be going to races I really enjoy going to, the first of those being the Tour Down Under, a race I have good memories of winning twice. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running there.”
