Daniel Martínez is quite an interesting rider in the field. In 2022 he was one of the most consistent and best riders in the peloton when it came to the stage-races and climbing, and in 2024 he's looking to be back at his best level and have a leading role in his new team.
Martínez became one of INEOS Grenadiers' most valuable riders but this season he was far from his best. Although he managed to win the Volta ao Algarve early on in the year, he never again looked to be at his best level. This came as another tough blow to an INEOS that has seen Jumbo-Visma and UAE Team Emirates become the absolute dominating teams in the Grand Tours.
His contract ended at the end of this season and the Colombian was picked up by BORA - hansgrohe. At a recent training camp, where the German team had it's new riders meet up in the Austrian Alps, Martínez continued rehabilitation work related to a hand injury he suffered this year.
CiclismoColombiano reports that the Colombian is firstly prioritizing his recovery in order to make sure that he can find himself at his best next year, and that the 27-year old will look to lead the team. With the addition of Primoz Roglic to the team there will naturally be a set leader for the Tour de France and several other stage races, but Martínez should have other opportunities. Alongside them, there will be other specialists such as Jai Hindley, Aleksandr Vlasov and Cian Uijtdebroeks.

#Mercato
