Arkéa Samsic are having a very strong season, and with their eyes on the promotion to World Tour, they continue to bring in serious points as Hugo Hofstetter and Connor Swift went on to finish first and third at Tro-Bro Léon.
"I knew I could do it. Since the beginning of the season, I always worked, I never panicked. Today, we took things in hand," Hofstetter said in a post-race interview. Inbetween the countless crashes and mechanicals, the Frenchman managed to find himself in the front trio together with teammate Connor Swift - third and last year's winner - and Luca Mozzatto. This year's consistency had been leading up to a win, and Hofstetter as gotten it on one of the calendar's most special races.
"When we found ourselves three in front in the final, I knew that the victory could not escape us. This race is really important for the team and I managed to push myself even though I was cramping," he added. Despite this, he sprinted to the win in a strong collective performance. Hofstetter has just recently returned from injury but is on great form, and will continue to race the French calendar before targeting the Tour de France where he will be contesting for stage wins.
"Yesterday we recognized the key sectors, Yvon Caër our sports director lives in Lannilis and he was even more motivated than us. We had a great team race but I can’t help but be disappointed for Laurent [Pichon] who had a flat tire at the worst possible moment. We had a great time together, that’s all that matters," he concluded.
