Itzulia Women annihilation "something I can cross off my bucket list" for Demi Vollering

Team SD Worx are no strangers to dominating events in the women's peloton, however rarely is there such a display of individual power as Demi Vollering displayed at the recent Itzulia Women. The 25-year old won all three stages of the race alongside the general classification and the points classification .

"I felt I had something left. I was actually waiting for one of my teammates to go, but I felt it was now or never. So I gambled on it. If it didn't work out, it was a nice opportunity for one of my teammates to try," Vollering said at the send of stage three. After winning the two opening days, it was unlikely that anyone could dethrone the Dutch off the lead, however not only did she defend it, but she attacked the race and stormed to a third and final win.

With a piercing attack in Murgil, the final climb at the well-known Clásica San Sebastián, Vollering got a gap which allowed her to ride to a glorious triumph in absolute domination. "But I immediately made a gap. "Now all I have to do is go downhill and I'll get there," I thought. I gave it all, but it was very difficult. When I heard I only had 14 seconds, I knew I had to squeeze everything out of it to keep it to the finish. I went full gas," Vollering detailed.

"This is something I can cross off my bucket list. There were only four of us here, but four very strong climbers. This race was made for us with all those climbs. If I win here, it is thanks to my teammates," she added.

"It is very cool to win this race for the first time ever. It gives a lot of confidence for the Tour de France," she concluded. It has been a very consistent spring, and this past weekend she managed to take advantage of her form to hit the spotlight.
