The Burgos BH team is preparing to participate in the great Spanish race, the Vuelta a Espana, with a combination of young and experienced cyclists who have had an outstanding performance throughout the season. The team led by Julio Andrés Izquierdo has been invited to this three-week event, which will start in Barcelona and finish in Madrid, demonstrating their bravery in the race and good performances throughout the year.
The selection of the eight cyclists who will take the start has not been an easy task, given that the purple squad has won six victories in the last eight months. Five riders repeat from the 2022 edition, while the debutant will be Uruguayan Eric Fagúndez, who has had a great performance in his first season as a professional, excelling in stage tours.
The team counts on the experience of veteran climber Dani Navarro, who will be competing in his ninth Vuelta a España. Also expected to perform well in the high mountains is José Manuel Díaz Gallego, who could be an asset for the general classification. Dutchman Jetse Bol, known for his combativeness and presence in mountain prize fights, will compete for the seventh time in La Vuelta.
Jesús Ezquerra, from Cantabria, is another candidate to excel in breakaways, having recently participated in the World Championships. The team's youngest rider, Pelayo Sánchez, returns to the Vuelta after two years, marking the stages of the last week after his victory in the Vuelta a Asturias.
Ander Okamika, who has been part of the team since 2021, ensures his presence in La Vuelta, while Cyril Barthe will bring speed and skill in selective stages, adding a victory in the Volta al Alentejo in his first season with Burgos BH.
