BREAKING: Davide Rebellin dead at 51 years of age following road accident

Tragic news have hit the world of cycling. Davide Rebellin, one of the sport's most iconic figures who had just retired from professional cycling, has passed away following a road accident.

Rebellin, who has raced for the Work Service Vitalcare Vega team this season, has ended what was perhaps the longest professional career in pro cycling just over a month ago. At the time being little is known about the accident, but the driver of the truck who hit him has fled the scene.

Rebellin is a winner of all three Ardennes classics and has had countless successes throughout his extensive career which began in 1992. Between his many wins were also triumphs at Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico and Clasica San Sebastian. He has ridden alongside many different generations, witnessing the success of Miguel Indurain all the way to Tadej Pogacar and everyone inbetween.

More updates are to come. CyclingUpToDate would like to extend it's condolences to all friends and family.
