BORA - hansgrohe and Movistar in intense negotiation battle for Spanish champion Oier Lazkano

The future of Oier Lazkano is still open and according to GCN he is looking to sign a 3 or 4 year deal and at the moment the candidates in pole position to get his services are the multimillion dollar project of BORA - hansgrohe (and Red Bull) or continue with Movistar Team.

Thus, according to GCN, Movistar Team still hopes to renew the rider from Alava, although no signing (in BORA's case) could be made official until August 1. There is no direct information from BORA beyond the interest, although Primoz Roglic's team is very active for the classics and has already reportedly secured two strong classics riders in as Jan Tratnik (Visma - Lease a BIke) and Laurence Pithie (Groupama FDJ).

Lazkano started the 2024 season in sensational form winning the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, but then he has not been able to shine as he would like in the cobblestones season when it comes to results. In the Tour of Flanders he wore himself out at the start and paid for it, and before Paris-Roubaix he suffered an allergy that prevented him from performing.

Despite this, he is a very coveted rider who is being highly disputed in the market: either to be one more in BORA or to be the leader of the classics in Movistar Team. We'll see what ends up appealing more to the current Spanish road champion.
