Both
Baloise Belgium Tour and
Tour de Suisse start on the 11th of June. One of those races is almost certain to see the return of
Remco Evenepoel to racing after abandoning the Giro d'Italia with Covid-19, but it is not yet decided where the World Champion will be.
“I would like to have the world champion at the start, but for now we have not received the green light from his team," Belgium Tour race organizer David Loosli told Het Laatste Nieuws. "If Remco still wants to come, we will certainly make room." This would also apply to an event taking place the day before alongside the team presentations, however he aknowledges that it will be difficult in case he races Suisse.
“Every participant is expected to be there. But in the past, riders have flown in the day of the start due to illness or a crash of a teammate," he concluded, confirming the race's urge to have the Belgian ride in, which would certainly mean he'd be the headliner of the race. As he prepares for the national championships - and later on, the worlds - it would certainly be a logical decision.
Last year he rode the Tour de Suisse en route to a very successful end of the season and he may want to repeat that path. There he could even face Primoz Roglic who could be heading to Switzerland following his Giro win in order to search a victory in what is one of the last high-level stage-races he hasn't yet won in his career.
