Bahrain - Victorious sign back Rod Ellingworth - "He will be a key part in guiding our young GC talents, like Buitrago, Martinez and Tiberi"

Rod Ellingworth is one of Great Britain's most influencial figures in cycling. He led Team Sky through it's glory years, took a bet on Mark Cavendish in 2020 which kept him in the pro peloton and is currently the director of the Tour of Britain. From next season onwards he will return to Bahrain - Victorious as the team look to be in the podium of the Tour de France.

“It’s great to be back with the team, and I’m looking forward to working on key projects over the next three years," Ellingworth said in a press release issued by the team. "The team has some fantastic young riders with great GC credentials. I look forward to working with them to achieve the team’s ambitions.”

The plan for Bahrain is that exactly, to place Ellingworth alongside the many GC riders that the team is developing, hoping to one day be able to match or contest against the likes of Tadej Pogacar or Jonas Vingegaard; or at least to be the best of the rest. The Briton has tons of experience working with riders and teams contesting the very highest spots at the Grand Boucle and the team is looking to bolster it's squad as much as possible.

“We are happy to bring Rod back to us and support our performance team," team manager Milan Ezren had to say. "He will be a key part in guiding our young GC talents, like Buitrago, Martinez and Tiberi, with a focus on the Grand Tours. I’ve always maintained a great relationship with Rod—he’s a great guy who is incredibly knowledgeable about cycling. He has great experience achieving the best results in the biggest races. It’s great that he is back in our team.” As he mentioned; Santiago Buitrago, Antonio Tiberi and Lenny Martínez are the priority riders.
