Bahrain - Victorious have over the last year been one of the most successful stage-racing teams, and they are heading to the Critérium du Dauphiné with big ambitions as they gear up for the Tour de France.
"A lot of guys are coming back from a period of preparation doing altitude and specific training. With Jack Haig the GC leader going really well, and Damiano Caruso the same, they’ll be supported by the rest of the team, and the guys are all looking forward to the challenge," said Neil Stephens, Bahrain's DS this coming week. The duo finished third at the Vuelta a España and second at the Giro d'Italia last year, and this year they join efforts to target the GC at the Tour de France - alongside Gino Mäder who will be racing at the Tour de Suisse.
Dylan Teuns will also be a part of the lineup, after his successful spring where he took wins at the Tour de Romandie and Flèche Wallone. He will not have a flurry of punchy stages to target, however the Belgian is capable of thriving in more than one terrain. Luis León Sánchez will provide further support in the hilly terrain.
Phil Bauhaus, straight out of the Giro d'Italia, will be eyeing the sprints in an attempt to take a second win for his season. With the support of Heinrich Haussler and Kamil Gradek, who will also be supporting the leaders in the flat terrain, he will have good chances with a field that lacks many big names.
Bahrain - Victorious for Critérium du Dauphiné: Phil Bauhaus, Damiano Caruso, Kamil Gradek, Jack Haig, Heinrich Haussler, Luis León Sánchez and Dylan Teuns.
