Roglic and Vingegaard lead full-scale Dauphiné title hunt for Jumbo-Visma

As Jumbo-Visma gear up for another attempt at winning the Tour de France, their main block of riders is going to be racing the Crite´rium du Dauphiné this coming week. They come as the main favourites though, led by Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard.

The duo has not raced since the spring. Roglic finished his campaign at the Itzulia Basque Country after contracting a knee injury, of which he has in the meantime recovered from. As for Vingegaard, his last completed race was on the same roads, but now the duo gear up for the first time with equally big ambitions to win the Tour. Here in support, Steven Kruijswijk, Tiesj Benoot and Chris Harper will be the main support for the mountains.

Wout van Aert is also expected to play a role, although he will also be eyeing the sprints and the race's ITT as a priority. Christophe Laporte, who's been a key member of the team throughout the spring, completes the lineup and will be giving assistance aswell as possibly going for his own chances in the flatter stages.

Team DS Grischa Niermann explained his thoughts on the race: "We think the riders will be okay after a first altitude training and then we want to show ourselves. But winning this Dauphiné is not a goal in itself. It is good preparation for the Tour, which remains our main goal." Jumbo come into the race as the team to beat in the eyes of most, so Niermann is cautious, admitting that "many eyes will be on us, so we will have to race in a smart way."

Jumbo-Visma for Critérium du Dauphiné: Primoz Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert, Tiesj Benoot, Chris Harper, Christophe Laporte and Steven Kruijswijk.
