XDS Astana Team are in search of UCI points and from the
Tour of Turkey they will certainly obtain a huge amount.
Wout Poels has won the overall classification followed by teammate Harold Martin López; and on stage 8 of the race - the final one - the team has won it's fourth stage of the week with the fourth rider:
Matteo Malucelli.
The final stage of the Turkish race was mostly flat, but with a few hills early in the day that sparked quite a lot of attacks and saw a strong breakaway going up the road consisting of Tibor del Grosso, Ahmet Orken, Marco Tizza, Metkel Eyob, Burak Abay, Zeb Kyffin, Alexandre Blamer, Konrad Czabok, Vinzent Dorn and Mustaka Tefin.
With only 105 kilometers on the menu, the speed throughout the day was very high and in the flat roads, some of the riders in front began to get dropped. In an average speed of 45Km/h, the breakaway seemed like it could make it, but the chase was strong and organized and eventually the catch was made with 3 kilometers to go. It was then a chaotic leadout with no team managing to have the ideal position, but in the run-up to the line Malucelli found the space to go through and had the speed to take his second win of the season.
Alexander Kristoff and
Giovanni Lonardi finished second and third.
