Annemiek van Vleuten has won the second stage of the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta. She launched an early attack and created a considerable gap which she maintained till the end.
The breakaway included Lucinda Brand (Trek-Segafredo), Sarah Roy (Canyon Sram), Marta Lach (Ceratizit-WNT), and Maaike-Colje (Massi-Tactic). The group of four worked together to create a gap of 45 seconds.

However, they were soon caught by the peloton. Annemiek van Vleuten attacked 30 kilometers before the finish line and took a minute lead. She later increased it to over 2 minutes. Demi Vollering and Liane Lippert tried to shadow her but she was too fast.
No one was able to challenge Van Vleuten till the end as she crossed the finish line to secure the victory with an over 2-minute lead. Elisa Longo Borghini came back from crash to take silver, Liane Lippert was able to secure bronze. Van Vleuten is also the new GC leader.
