UAE Team Emirates had no less than two objectives in today's stage two at Vuelta a Asturias. While priority was keeping overall leader Isaac del Toro out of trouble, winning the stage with another youngster António Morgado was also in the books. And despite the rainy weather, the team more than succeeded in both their tasks.
The 20-year-old Morgado is having excellent week of racing, adding to his debut victory at Giro della Romanga last Sunday. "The race was long and the day cold and with a lot of rain. The team trusted me and all my mates did a great performance in trying to give me the opportunity to win, so I tried to sprint exploiting a super good lead-out. I’m very happy," he expressed in press release.
In addition, his teammate Del Toro joined Morgado on the podium today with a third place. Tomorrow will be another chance for the sympathic Portuguese all-rounder to score in a stage with explosive finish to Oviedo, where multiple scenarios can materialize.
