Alex Baudin reinstated to Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team after testing positive for Tramadol at the Giro d'Italia

After a positive test for Tramadol saw his performances at the 2023 Giro d'Italia wiped from the record, Alex Baudin has now been welcomed back into the fold by Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team.

Although Baudin refuted the findings of a blood test, the 22-year-old was found to have Tramadol in his bloodstream on stage 17 of the 2023 Giro d'Italia, a drug that has been blacklisted since 2019 but due to the fact that the drug will not become part of WADA's banned substance list until the 1st of January, 2024, Baudin has avoided a lengthier punishment.

"AG2R Citroen Team announces the reinstatement of Alex Baudin after an in-depth examination by team’s ethics committee," begins an official statement by the team. "The team would like to reaffirm it's commitment to sporting integrity, transparency and promoting clean and ethical cycling."

"After a complicated period away from the pack and my passion, I am looking forward to reuniting with my teammates for the new year which will be full of thrills and sporting challenges," adds Baudin. "I am going to put my energy and determination into achieving great results with the team."
