Team Visma | Lease a Bike have had a rollercoaster first couple of stages at the 2025
Vuelta a Espana. After controversially losing time on the opening stage team time trial due to reasons outside their control, their legendary leader
Marianne Vos has fired back to gain a modicum of revenge on stage 2 with a dominant sprint performance.
"It feels really good, especially when the whole team puts all the effort in, not only in this race but all the season already," reflected the 37-year-old Dutchwoman to the media after taking the incredible 256th win of her illustrious career. "After what happened yesterday, we wanted to take that energy into today and all committed to it. I'm very happy I could finish it off."
In a chaotic finale, the wet roads saw a number of riders hit the deck. Vos though, used all her experience to navigate the treachery and take the win in the sprint by more than a bike length. "It was
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and Imogen Wolff still with me, and it was amazing just to follow their wheels and to be able to get to the last corner in front due to their work," concludes Vos happily. "Yes, it was slippery, but being in the front is then the best position."
