Following that sprint, Lea Lin Teutenberg attempted to catch the peloton sleeping with a solo attack. Ultimately however, it didn't amount to much, with the German quickly caught by the bunch. At just outside 15km to go, Neve Bradbury was then caught out in a crash, putting CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto on the back foot, with some reports suggesting Team SD Worx-Protime leader Anna van der Breggen had also hit the deck. Another crash followed just a couple of kilometres after, highlighting the rise in stress levels ahead of the upcoming finale.
Sensing a GC opportunity with some rivals caught out behind, Demi Vollering's FDJ - Suez was keen to keep the pace high at the front of the peloton, as a chase group attempted to close the gap heading towards the finish. Notably, the Red Jersey of Ellen van Dijk was not in the lead group as things split again into the final 3km. There was still a stage win to be fought for at the front though, and in the fight for the finish line, it was a dominant Marianne Vos that powered to victory ahead of
Letizia Paternoster and
Letizia Borghesi.
