Adam Yates, as promised after getting the victory and the yellow jersey in the first stage, has worked in the second for his leader at
UAE Team Emirates Tadej Pogacar.
The Briton nevertheless retained the lead of the
Tour de France. He commented on this on the podium of the San Sebastián stage. "It's been a tough day, we've worked very well all day, leading the peloton all the time, we've set up Tadej for the bonus and then for the finish, so I think we've done a good job."
On whether he expected to keep the yellow jersey, he commented the following: "I don't know, everything would depend on the bonuses and the end, I think that if Tadej had managed to win it would have happened to me, but in the end if we keep him in the team we will keep him, So job done."

Adam Yates is clear that the Tour is unpredictable and that yellow is not important right now but at the end. "We don't know what's going to happen, it's not easy to predict anything in the Tour de France, every day is tough and technical, it's not easy, we're going to keep working and we'll see what happens."
