The new update of the UCI points ranking has seen yet even more Belgian semi-classics add points to the tally, however the Critérium du Dauphiné also distributed serious points inbetween the teams, and things are looking complicated for some.
Lotto Soudal keep focusing on the classics with some success, as only 220 points separate them from the 18th place of Team BikeExchange - Jayco according to the updated report by Raúl Banqueri. The Australian team remains struggling to obtain World Tour points, and they are on the verge of going under the red line as the Belgian team keep adding up points.
The Australian team had Dylan Groenewegen fail to contest a stage win at the Critérium du Dauphiné, where EF Education-EasyPost rode to 7th and 9th with Esteban Chaves and Ruben Guerreiro who brought in important points that have boosted them into 17th place. Movistar Team sit in 16th with around 400 points of advantage as they enter the Grand Tours where they're having their main focus.
This coming week will be incredibly important in the fight for the points as besides the Tour de Suisse, all World Tour teams will face challenges at the Tour of Slovenia, Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenge, Baloise Belgium Tour and Route d'Occitanie where there will be plenty points available before heading into the Tour de France.
