The 2024 transfer season is virtually ended as the peloton is deep into the season and into February already. Hence, it is possible to analyze the amount of riders each team signed and 'lost' over the winter.
The statistics obtained by ProCyclingStats show that Astana Qazaqstan Team was by far the team with the most signings over the 2023 transfer period, with a focus on signing a strong leadout for Mark Cavendish. The Kazakh team brought in 14 new faces, almost half of it's 2024 team. Cofidis and Soudal - Quick-Step followed with 12 and 11 signings.
In the opposite side of the spectrum we've got Bahrain - Victorious who only signed three riders this winter - a negative balance for a team who lost leaders Mikel Landa and Jonathan Milan. It is worthy to analyze that Team Visma | Lease a Bike signed 8 riders; UAE Team Emirates signed 6 and INEOS Grenadiers signed 4 - generally, a lower tally when comparing to the average.
