For many of the newly crowned national champions, the upcoming
Tour de France will be the first time they are seen in the colours of their nation. One such rider is the newly crowned German national champion Georg Zimmerman. It's fair to say his new look
Intermarché - Wanty jersey hasn't gone down well with fans online however.
Opting for a low key national champion's jersey, Zimmerman's kit is predominantly white, with the only telling factor being a very slim and narrow German flag across the midriff. "-1000 UCI Points for Intermarché would be deserved," claims the well known cycling influencer
Benji Naesen of the Lanterne Rouge podcast.
"There were certainly better ways to make a beautiful champion's jersey,"
adds Cycling Bottle on X (Twitter). "Come on, Intermarché - Wanty. Back to the design table. You can do better."
UAE Team Emirates - XRG often come under fire themselves for making relatively invisible national champions jerseys. According to one cycling fan on X, however, after seeing this effort by Intermarché - Wanty, perhaps UAE have been a bit unfairly criticised. "I don’t wanna hear another complaint about UAE ever again,"
writes Katie.
