Two-time Olympic champion
Tom Pidcock put on a masterclass on Sunday, capturing his fifth career cross-country World Cup victory in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic. The British rider wasted no time stamping his authority on the Czech course, breaking clear as early as the second lap before delivering a flawless solo performance to finish well ahead of French rider Luca Martin and Switzerland's
Filippo Colombo.
Nové Město na Moravě has been a staple of the mountain bike calendar since joining the World Cup circuit in 2011, earning a reputation as one of the most beloved and technically demanding tracks on the schedule.
Heading into Sunday's race, all eyes were on Pidcock for obvious reasons. Having won his last four appearances at the venue, the multi-discipline star was the overwhelming favorite to match the historic record of five elite victories held by Swiss mountain bike legend
Nino Schurter.
Pidcock got off to a smooth start, initially content to bide his time and read the rhythm of the pack. However, that patience didn't last long, as he quickly forced a split at the front, separating himself from the field alongside French riders Mathis Azzaro and Luca Martin.
While fans hoped for a dramatic three-way battle, Pidcock had other plans. During the second lap, he launched a brutal acceleration on one of the course's steep climbing sectors, instantly putting both Azzaro and Martin in the rearview mirror. By the end of the third lap, his lead over Martin had already ballooned to roughly twenty seconds.

Martin fights back, but Pidcock seals the deal
Luca Martin refused to go down without a fight. The Frenchman managed to steady the gap and even put Pidcock under some pressure by clawing back a few seconds during the fifth lap.
However, Pidcock proved to have another gear when it mattered most. On the sixth lap, the Olympic champion picked up the pace once again, effectively shattering Martin's resistance and putting the result beyond doubt. Pidcock comfortably soloed across the line to secure his historic fifth victory, leaving Martin to take a well-deserved second place while Filippo Colombo fought his way through the chasing pack to round out the podium.
Behind Colombo, Martin Vidaurre Kossmann finished 4th, while Fabio Püntener finished 5th, just one second behind Kossmann. Red Bull BORA's Adrien Boichis rounded out the top 6, ahead of Dario Lillo.
Mathis Azzaro, a rider who arrived with high expectations, finished 26th, far from the leading positions.
