  Or that crash when he went off the side of the bridge into a ravine, or when he also crashed with Jonas etc. I would be amazed if he's not carrying some unfixable injuries from all these events that have knocked his "100% fit" level down to about 70-80% of what it could've been had he never crashed. Either way, I don't think he's got it in him to win another GT. By the time his current rivals are out of puff, he'll be the old dog trying to beat the next gen of super talents. Very much the Andy Murray of this cycling generation. Question is how long it is before everyone realises/accepts it, and pivots him to focusing on one-day races/monuments where he just seems to have more success before it's too late for him to do anything. Nothing worse than spending the next decade trying to be something you physically can't be, while not doing something you might actually be better suited for.

  I hope Bardet sticks with it and gets a world championship. he got 2nd in Innsbruck, coincidentally to Alejandro. it would be great to see him on the top step.

  I am purely speculating but perhaps that devastating crash with the postal van affected him much more than we were led to believe. It seems like a similar scenario to the Froome and Bernal training ride crashes. Both won the TDF but were never the same again after those terrible crashes. Hopefully, this is not true for Remco and is just a minor dip in form and he lifts later in the year.
