For the first time in team history,
UAE Team ADQ will be celebrating a stage win at the
Tour de France Femmes tonight, after
Maeva Squiban soloed to the stage 6 win at the 2025 edition of her home Grand Tour, benefitting from a perfectly timed late attack.
UAE hadn't enjoyed the best of Tours over the course of the first 5 stages, losing their GC leader and genuine Maillot Jaune contender
Elisa Longo Borghini, with
Karlijn Swinkels, Eleonora Camilla Gasparrini, leaving the team's numbers in the peloton down to just four. Despite the diminished numbers however, Squiban proved the fight is still strong on stage 6.
"It's really an amazing feeling. I didn't expect to do that," the 23-year-old French star reflected in her post-stage interview afterwards with tears in her eyes. "I know we had a strong team, we are only four now, but we are all really strong, and we knew that we were able to do something big today, and finally, we did it. A special day for us."
This victory marks just the third win in Squiban's pro career, and by far her most prestigious success. With three days still to go, there are still chances for Squiban and UAE to add to that win tally as well.
