- Kasia wasn't obstructed or ridden into the barriers, bunch of crap that the useful idiots will believe. If you don't want to be in the media's crosshairs, don't do stupid things like ride on the outside line of a bend behind a gassed lead-out rider.
See what I did there?
You also need to watch the actual video again - there's no conspiracy because what happened was actually shown in the live feed: you can see Gery was gassed from leading out Vollering and slows down and then Longo Borghini and Kasia and all the other riders have to go around Gery.
This is racing tactics, the men do it too e.g. Yates leading out Pogacar countless times and then when Pogi goes, Yates is gassed from the lead-out so Jonas, etc have to go around Yates.
Another point: everyone getting worked up about this but it happened with 6.5km to go and Kasia clearly didn't have the legs and needed to be pulled ALL THE WAY TO THE FINISH by Longo Borghini.
All you people thinking the abuse on Gery was warranted need to take a good hard look at yourselves. If you truly believe this one incident of 1-2 seconds 'obstruction' made the whole difference and that Kasia deserved to win, then you are not a true cycling fan.
- I remember so well when he was about to win the Giro ten years ago, race almost over, a good lead in GC, then everything came crashing down.
- Certainly helps to not have the whole thing feel like a somewhat forgone conclusion. Not having the processional final stage is much better IMO. More high stakes racing, right to the last gasp.
- I don't mind the occasional Lance article, but guys, Michael Rasmussen? Come on now.
- Ah so cute! You and Pogi side by side forever!
- Doper Lance only climbed well because of PEDs!
Demi lives now in Switzerland - mountains everywhere!
It's not where you are born that determines if you are a great climber ! Sheesh !
- > it was a dicey move, very aggressive perhaps. but wrong? well no one was relegated so it was ok.
>as Demi said, when she was in yellow, no one waited for her.
Was Kasia relegated for not waiting for Demi?
Well no one was relegated so it was ok.
Even Demi's team ignored her.
- When I hear of Royalty I think of "Sex Pistols" and the cut, "God Save the Queen".
Fascist regimes have become the EU.
- No, ask yourself: would Pogacar or Vingegaard ever position them as poorly as KN in a predictable scenario. The answer is no; because they know the game: Road cycling is a contact sport - and there is no style marks. Furthermore, they know when to keep their mouth shut. KN's behavior after the stage was completely out of line.
- Roglič has always had a remarkably forward looking short term memory. Things happen. Move on. That's for success and for setbacks. He's one of the best grand tour riders the sport has ever seen (sure, sure, he doesn't have the Tour on his list, but so close!), and the way he did it felt unique. At some point, though, his resilience and ability to jump back from a setback was going to fail. It goes with his body "aging" (I'm substantially older than him and he's still young, but not in cycling). I wish him the best, but I don't think he's going to meet his goal of winning a 5th time.
