Marion Norbert Riberolle claimed victory in the Azencross Loenhout on Friday afternoon, delivering a strong performance to defeat rivals Sanne Cant and Imogen Wolff.
Riberolle reflected on her win, sharing her thoughts with Wielerflits: “I am super happy. I decided in consultation with my coach and the team to start here, because it was a chance for a win.”
Despite her success, the day didn’t begin smoothly for Riberolle. “However, I did not feel so good today during the reconnaissance. My legs were very heavy, it was not easy. I was also sleeping a bit too much at the start,” she admitted.
The race saw Riberolle pulling ahead alongside Sanne Cant, a seasoned competitor and former idol of hers. In the penultimate lap, Riberolle made her decisive move, leaving Cant behind to secure the victory. “I have a lot of respect for her. She used to be my idol. But in the final I didn’t wait and I took my chances. For my morale it’s very good that I can win here,” she added.
