The European champion and X2O Trofee leader put her foot down to consolidate the lead and get her first win since the world championships.
In a rainy day in Lille everyone knew differences would be big from the start. A mostly flat track with several very technical and sandy sections made for a race completely split just 5 minutes in as Brand and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado rode ahead of the rest.
Alvarado lead the race through the first lap solo but was caught and dropped by Lucinda Brand right after, who then went on to extend that lead to grab her 18th win of the season. It was a short race with only 46 minutes of racing for the winner, Annemarie Worst was the only rider capable of finishing within a minute, and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado completed the podium. As for Denise Betsema she struggled in the tricky conditions and finished 7th 2.24 down on Brand, taking a big hit to the hopes of winning the cup.
