Eli Iserbyt lost out to his teammate at the second round of
the cyclocross world cup season, at the
World Cup Dublin race. Although Iserbyt
was one of the favourites for victory, he was ultimately beaten to victory by
Michael Vanthourenhout in the Irish capital
In a race where new European champion Thibau Nys suffered a
fall, Michael Vanthourenhout had to change his shoe after his original shoe
broke early on. Vanthourenhout was very impressive in coming back through the
field to take the win, and Iserbyt was still content with his performance.
On Instagram, Iserbyt wrote, “Gave everything the last 2
laps but I was just not strong enough. Happy for the 2/2 in the Worldcup for
the team, congrats Michael Vanthourenhout.”
Iserbyt lost the overall world cup lead as a result to his
teammate, who has 65 points to Iserbyt’s 62. But still, it has been a very positive
start to the World Cup season for Iserbyt, who will be happy to have put the
controversy of the start of his cross season to bed.
