"I hope to win a big race one day" - Felipe Orts close again after podium at Flandriencross Hamme

Felipe Orts gave another great showing of himself on Sunday afternoon at the Flandriencross Hamme. Although victory ultimately proved a step too far, the Spaniard ended up crossing the line a close 3rd, just 8 seconds down on winner Niels Vandeputte. 

“It was another super tough race,” Orts reflected of the race in his post-race interview. “In the last lap I thought the podium was impossible, because I lost a few meters. But in the last part of the lap it went a bit better and eventually I became third. That is super good. I am happy.”

“I attacked on the finish line. I created a small gap, but I had to recover for a while. That’s how I fell back to the group. But I don’t think I wasted much energy there," Orts added, referring to a mid-race attack that at one point looked as if he could power away to the victory. “I always try to fight for the victory. I hope to win a big race one day.”
