One of the main novelties in the UCI's disciplinary system has been the inclusion of yellow cards, which you will have become accustomed to by now. Although in most cases yellow cards have been no more than a symbolic warning, usually also carrying a monetary fine, the truth is that in the long term we may start to see some consequences.
The use of yellow cards follows three fundamental criteria in their allocation:
  • 2 yellow cards in the same event: Disqualification from the race and a 7-day suspension
  • 3 yellow cards in 30 days: 14 days suspension
  • 6 yellow cards in a year: 30 days suspension.
With this in mind, here's an updated list of cyclists (male and female) who could face disciplinary sanctions if they see yellow cards again:

Cyclists who have seen yellow cards in the last 30 days:

This range of cyclists will not be able to see up to 3 cards in the space of 30 days, and obviously at the end of those 30 days the yellow will clear this list and the risk of sanction will decrease.
You may not remember, but during this Tour of Italy, for example, seven cyclists have already been given yellow cards, the last of which to Damiano Caruso was taking off a jacket and threw it (accidentally) straight into Dylan van Baarle's face. For the rest, practically all the cases are for irregular sprints.

Cyclists who have been yellow carded in the last 365 days:

In this case, during the year 2025 we won't have cyclists clearing yellow cards but they will also have less disciplinary margin.
As far as the 365-day period is concerned, we already have four cyclists with two yellow cards, the most notorious case being Danny van Poppel, who has been involved in several incidents at sprint finishes, both when he launches Sam Welsford and when he launches his sprints. Kaden Groves, on the other hand, will certainly be remembered for the yellow card he received when he celebrated Jasper Philipsen's victory in the Kuurne - Brussels - Kuurne before his time was up and was penalized for taking his hands off the handlebars before crossing the finish line.
