Wout van Aert was last seen in competitive action at the Glasgow World Championships, finishing in the top 5 of both the road race and the time-trial without managing to take victory. Now his return has been confirmed.
The 28-year-old Belgian superstar will be back in the UK on the 3rd of September for the start of the 19th edition of the Tour of Britain as announced by the race's official X (Twitter) account.
"So, we might as well make this official..." reads the post by the Tour of Britain's social media account. "Former champion Wout van Aert will return to the Tour of Britain next month!"
Van Aert has only once before raced the Tour of Britain, winning the general classification of the race back in 2021 by just 6 seconds ahead of Ethan Hayter.
