Wout van Aert is on an incredible run of form at the Tour de France, and with a busy post-Tour schedule that will include several criteriums and little rest, the Belgian has decided to race the Clásica San Sebastián where he becomes one of the main favourites for the race.
The Basque classic will be held in the 30th of July, the weekend after the Tour, and is one that usually benefits the climbers and puncheurs. Van Aert should be one of the men to beat if he carries the form he's taken to help Jumbo-Visma dominate the Tour de France, Neilson Powless and Remco Evenepoel won the last two editions under different scenarios.
After the Tour van Aert mentioned he will be racing several criteriums, in Roeselare and his home town Herentals before the Spanish race, Roosendaal and Etten-Leur afterwards. The Tour is yet to be completed with van Aert a favourite for the two stages to come, however there is planning already ahead of the race.
