Ever since turning pro with
Team BikeExchange - Jayco back in 2014,
Simon Yates has stayed loyal with the Australian team and has signed a new two-year deal which will see him with the team at least until 2024
“To continue with this team is very important for me. The journey so far from being a young neo-pro through to 2022 has been great, I’ve had a lot of success and many failures, and the team has always kept believing in me, given me the chance, and given me the support and space to develop," Yates said in a press release. Despite the team's fear of relegation, the Briton has renewed his unconditional confidence and will keep representing the lineup for two more seasons.
Having won a Vuelta a España in 2018 and attempted multiple others, he's became the team's leader for the overall classification and the leader of the mountain blocks in the race. "Everybody in the organisation knows me very well as a rider, how I work best, and the environment of the team has been important for me to feel comfortable and grow," he added.
"I’m confident that we will achieve a lot more and I am pleased to be able to continue with this team that feels like home, into what will be my 10th and 11th seasons as a professional rider," he concluded. Yates is likely to target the Vuelta a España later this summer, after having taken two stage wins at the Giro d'italia earlier aswell as in Paris-Nice and the Vuelta a Asturias.
