For Jai Hindley, the Critérium du Dauphiné is a race that is mainly about building up his form for the upcoming Tour de France. Finishing 3rd on the summit finish of stage 7, Hindley has seen some signs of encouragement.
“As expected, it was a really tough day! I really like these long climbs and felt pretty good today. On the last climb no one was able to follow Vingegaard, but we had a good battle for the positions behind," Hindley recaps to the official website of BORA - hansgrohe.
Whilst Jonas Vingegaard was indeed a clear level above Hindley and his fellow general classification challengers, the Australian's third-placed finish has seen him rise up to fourth in the GC, now just 12 seconds behind Ben O'Connor and a podium place.
"I’m really happy to be on the podium today, it was not quite enough to move up to 3rd overall but still I’m very satisfied with my race," he says. "Again a big shoutout to my team mates, the boys are really doing a great job here! Another hard and exciting day coming up tomorrow, we’ll see what’s still possible in the GC - so better recover quickly from today!”
