Marta Cavalli sustained significant injuries during last season's
Tour de France Femmes but managed to recover and make a successful comeback in October. However, she still experiences discomfort while riding in the peloton.
Her recent performances in this season's races have also been impacted, exemplified by the missed chance in the
UAE Tour Women stage 3, which could have been advantageous for her team.
“I didn't feel comfortable on my bike when the wind started blowing sideways. It's a good lesson, and now I know where I have to work to improve," she told L'Equipe after the race.
“Marta made a good climb, but she still feels a blockage linked to this fall in the Tour de France last year. She is apprehensive in a peloton,” team director Cédric Barre told Cyclingnews.
Team manager Stephen Delcourt further added,“Marta is not cured. We finish this race and will take the time it takes to help her. We'll take care of her.”
Her teammate, Victorie Guilman, has expressed high confidence in the Italian rider, and believes that it's only a matter of time before she regains her previous form."Marta is a great champion, a great professional, she gives everything for the team, she will get over it, I have no doubt about that," concluded Guilman.
