"We can count ourselves lucky that he has no significant injuries" - Tension continues at Jumbo-Visma as Primoz Roglic hits the deck once more at the Giro d'Italia

Primoz Roglic has hit the deck quite a few time during the Giro d'Italia, but has somehow remained relatively unscathed until now. A few more scratches and bruises have emerged after stage 11 but he and Jumbo-Visma remain positive ahead of the mountains.

“At first glance, it seems to end with a fizz. It is unfortunate that Primož was involved in that fall today, but we can count ourselves lucky that he has no significant injuries," team DS Addy Engels said in a press release. Roglic crashed together with Geraint Thomas and Tao Geoghegan Hart in what was a chaotic situation, but quickly got up and left the scene - once again on a teammate's bike, a pre-conceived plan which has spared him from losing time thus far.

Roglic arrived at the finish safely in the peloton but once again missing some skin. Whilst he was lucky not to abandon the race as was the case with Tao Geoghegan Hart who sat right behind him in the overall classification, he has taken another hit ahead of important days for the overall classification. “Suddenly something happened again with far-reaching consequences. It piles up every day this Giro, with numerous assignments," Engels continues.

"We do everything we can day in and day out to stay healthy and whole, but we also know that we don't completely control the bad luck factor. Today's events will certainly influence the further course of this Giro. We will have to see how to deal with that.”
