Lurking rather dangerously, 14 seconds down in 5th place, after the first three stages of the 2024 Itzulia Basque Country, Jonas Vingegaard is still very much in the mix for overall victory.
Combining the fact his former teammate and race leader, Primoz Roglic having hit the deck hard in a crash on Wednesday's stage 3 and the parcour of an intriguing stage 4 this afternoon, it's likely Vingegaard and the rest of the GC contenders may sense an opportunity to attack.
"It's a pretty tough final," Vingegaard assesses in his pre-stage interview. "The climb in the final seems a bit harder than yesterday and we'll have to be ready, then we'll see how the legs are feeling. We always have a tactic but we'll see how everyone else is racing and make our plan around that."
