Like the Australian races, the early spot in the calendar has not been favourable for the
Vuelta a San Juan, who was not able to run it's 2021 and 2022 editions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, looking ahead to a brighter future, the Argentinian race is set to be back on the screens in 2023.
As is the Tour Down Under, San Juan presents the riders with the first stage-racing of the season for high-level teams. Both races take place in the southern hemisphere in plain summer, which attracts a wide array of riders and teams who look to train on the good weather, aswell as the wide roads and more modest pelotons - in San Juan's case.
