The 22-year-old dropped out of the Tirreno-Adriatico and competed for the last time in the Tour du Dubs on April 22. Since then, he decided to hit the pause button, not to race any more races and to focus exclusively on his recovery.
Now, almost 3 months later (although the ordeal has been much longer), Cian Uijtdebroeks is finally back on a bike in a professional race. The Visma cyclist will be at the Belgian Road Cycling Championships next Sunday, the news were confirmed by the rider himself on his
Instagram account.
"In the last few months I have been working hard to reach my next goals, focusing on getting the engine back in tune. I still have a lot of work ahead of me in terms of my fitness, which is normal after being out for a while. The most important thing is that the back responds well. Let's keep working and analyzing to solve this problem completely," said Uijtdebroeks.
Cian Uijtdebroeks will start to gain fitness ahead of the goals he has already set with Visma at the Clasica San Sebastian (August 2) and the Tour de Pologne (August 4-10). Perhaps, a participation in the Vuelta a España could get added to his schedule if things progress smoothly from thereon.
