After a thrilling edition of Eschborn-Frankfurt, the determination of the overall winner came down to a sprint finish involving a lead group of 10 riders.
Taking to the front, Alpecin-Deceuninck's Soren Kragh Andersen decided to lead out the sprint and with every rider in the group clearly riding on an almost completely empty tank following an energy-sapping day full of ups and downs.
In fact so tired were the riders in the lead group, no one managed to move up in the final sprint. Kragh Andersen, who led out the sprint took the victory ahead of the man who had been on his wheel, Patrick Konrad and the 27-year-old Italian Alessandro Fedeli in third.
