VIDEO: Nasty crash brings Luke Plapp's flying time trial to screeching halt at 2025 Giro d'Italia

Australian national time trial champion Luke Plapp looked set for a quick time on the stage 2 ITT at the 2025 Giro d'Italia. Pushing slightly too hard around one of the bends however, the Team Jayco AlUla star's hopes of a stage win have been brought to a screeching halt.
Plapp, who has sadly been no stranger to a nasty crash in recent years, pushed it a little too hard round a corner, coming down to the tarmac with a hard thump, right in front of a perfectly placed photographer. Thankfully, Plapp doesn't seem too badly hurt and was back up and on his bike soon after, but as mentioned, any hopes of a stage win are now over.

KerisVroom30-05-2025 - The mood was very different a week ago. UAE pulled him back at the expense of Del Toro's lead. If he couldn't pull ahead, the fault doesn't lie with the team. Is it his fault then? Not so, he crashed and couldn't recover. There is a very, very slim chance for him to win a GT even if he rides for another team if Pogacar is riding (barring accident). Anyway, he isn't going anywhere. UAE has a golden cage for him until the end of 2028. Good luck finding a team with financial prowess to pry him from his UAE contract.KerisVroom30-05-2025
