The first bunch sprint of the 2023
Tour de France was an exhilarating finale to an otherwise quiet day. For
Alpecin-Deceuninck it was a sprint played to perfection.
In a chaotic final few kilometres, it was
Mathieu van der Poel who put on the best of the leadout's for his respective sprinter. When
Jasper Philipsen launched his move, there was no stopping him. Although, there was a slightly contentious moment when
Wout van Aert was possibly pushed into the barriers, Philipsen was clearly the quicker rider.
