Jonas Vingegaard was crowned Tour de France winner this Sunday in Paris and this morning he travelled back to his home country of Denmark, in a private jet where afterwards he was received by a massive crowd in the streets of Copenhagen.
Copenhagen was where the Jumbo-Visma rider started to build on his maiden Tour de France win. Alongside his family, who were with him throughout the majority of the Tour, the scenes provided were of an immensely popular champion.
After taking on the yellow jersey with a fierce attack on the Col du Granon on stage 11, Vingegaard rode through two weeks of attacks by Tadej Pogacar, not only resisting but also expanding the gap to the Slovenian who had to settle with second place.
