The UAE Tour is one of the races with the least technical roads in the calendar but it has been seeing countless riders coming down and abandoning. Injuries aplenty for INEOS Grenadiers as Carlos Rodríguez also suffered a fractured collarbone following one of the previous crashes; and already during the stage there was another mass crash leading to several riders leaving the race including none other than Chris Froome.
Carlos Rodríguez and Matteo Malucelli both did not start the stage and that is exactly because both are carrying injuries from the several mass crashes that have already happened in this race. During the stage, with 167 kilometers to go, Chris Froome was part of a crash that involved several riders on a flat road with a divider that was seemingly the cause for the incident.
Froome pulled out of the race and has since been taken to the hospital for observations and diagnosis of a possible injury. Tudor sprinter Arvid de Kleijn, under-23 World Champion Niklas Behrens and Torstein Traeen have also had to abandon the race.

De nombreux coureurs veulent prendre part à l'échappée du jour. On voit notamment à l'avant Alexey Lutsenko et Pierre André Côté (Israël Premier Tech).
