Update: Thymen Arensman to join INEOS Grenadiers in 2023

After Jumbo-Visma expressed their interest in Thymen Arensman, INEOS Grenadiers have come out to do the same. The Team DSM rider is having a breakthrough year as he is delivering in the recent stage-races he has been present in, and very quickly some of the main teams in the peloton have showed interest in having him from 2023 onwards.

Sources close to the team have mentioned that Arensman is very close to signing with the British team, after not having accepted the offer of Jumbo-Visma. Arensman is currently under contract with Team DSM, where is sitting in a strong position on the overall classification. He is riding in support of Romain Bardet, as he has at the Tour of the Alps last month where he nevertheless finished in third place.

In 2018, whilst being one of the most talented riders in the cyclocross field, he also finished second place at the Tour de l'Avenir behind Tadej Pogacar. He had been touted as one of the most promising riders in this coming generation, but has had a very steady development - he's yet to take his first pro win.

UPDATE: This Thursday morning, Team DSM has confirmed to Velonews that a transfer is already confirmed and that Arensman is set to leave the team in a two-year contract with INEOS Grenadiers. They announced: "We would really have liked to have kept Thymen in the team, we did everything that we could but unfortunately he has apparently received an offer that he could not refuse. Thymen is a talented rider and he will always be welcome back..
