Prize Money. The 2023 Giro d'Italia route has finally been announced! The race will feature several very tough high-mountain stages, aswell as a lot of time-trialing kilometers which will make for a very balanced race throughout three weeks from the 6th to the 28th of May.

A grand total of €1.500.000 euros will be distributed between the teams present in the race, who will be racing for not only very prestigious glory on the road, but also for a very important financial benefit from one of the races that provides the most sponsor exposure all year long. The most important and most valuable classification is quite understandably the overall classification. The Maglia Rosa in Roma will give a rider glory, and give the team a hefty bonus at the end of the race, as the winner is set to take around €265.000 from the win, whilst second and third places take around €133.000 and €68.000 euros respectively.

Adding to that, each stage has it's own prize for all 20 placed riders, with the maximum daily prize reaching just over €11.010, and the daily leader of the race receives €2.000.

The Maglia Ciclamino, which will be worn by the points classification leader everyday, will give it's owner €750 per day. The rider who racks up the most points on any stage will have an almost equal prize of €700. As for the final classification, the podium will each receive respectively €10.000, €8.000 and €6.000 euros.

As for the mountains classification, the daily values are the same as the points classification with €750 for the leader and €700 for the rider who takes the most points on the day; whilst the final classification gives out half the prize: €5.000 for the winner being the maximum value.

For riders 25 or under, there is a particular classification which often involves the riders in the battle for the pink jersey. On each day, €750 will be given to the leader of the white jersey, whilst in the final day €10.000, €8.000 and €6.000 will be awarded to the first three riders.

As for the teams' classification, there will be a prize money of €5.000, €4.000 and €3.000 in the final standings. However, money will be distributed everyday between the three best teams on the day with €500 given to the best.

But the Giro d'Italia not only hosts the traditional classifications, it also has some less classic ones which will allow the lower-ranked teams to have a financial boost, and be rewarded by their bravery. The intermediate sprint classification is a good example, with €8.000, €6.000 and €4.000 given to the first three in the final classification, whilst every single intermediate sprint will give out the first five riders bonus money, €500 euros per sprint being the highest value.

The riders who daily, and in total puts in the most kilometers in a breakaway throughout the whole race will also be rewarded, with €100 and €4.800 euros respectively.
