The 2023 Tour de France is underway and already there have been casualties on an intense first stage in the Basque Country.
On a descent with just over 20km to go both Enric Mas and Richard Carapaz have hit the deck hard. Two riders that started the race with big hopes in the general classification, both received a lot of medical attention.
Whilst Carapaz was able to remount his bike and carry on gingerly, Mas has sadly been forced to abandon the race at this incredibly early stage.
