Isaac del Toro
This week's update features points scored in stage races UAE Tour, Vuelta a Andalucía and Volta ao Algarve, as well as French one-day races Classic Var and Tour des Alpes Maritimes.
You can check the previous UCI Rankings update here. It has been an action-packed week of racing, with three important stage races that took place simultaneously (the WorldTour-level UAE Tour and two ProSeries events), meaning a lot of points were awarded.
Mauro Schmid remains firmly in control of the 2026 leaderboard, although his lead has been reduced. The Swiss rider did not race the past week, and he is around 250 points ahead of his nearest rival, who is none other than Isaac del Toro.
The Mexican rider made his season debut at the UAE Tour and he didn't want to lose any time to make a statement, as he won the uphill sprint of the first stage. Del Toro struggled more than expected during the time trial, mostly due to the strong wind, and he was caught off guard by Antonio Tiberi in the first mountain test of the race, but he bounced back in the final stage and secured both the stage and the general classification.

His impressive performance allowed him to climb to the second position of the ranking, with a total of 826 points. He is 86 points ahead of Christian Scaroni, who completes the podium. The Italian rider has taken a step forward in 2026, and he's proven to be such a reliable climber/puncheur. He almost got his fourth win of the season last week, but he was ultimately beaten by Paul Lapeira at the Tour des Alpes Maritimes.
Antonio Tiberi surged to the fourth position thanks to an excellent UAE Tour, where he finished in second place of the general classification besides of winning the third stage. He amassed over 500 points throughout the week, and he is barely 6 points behind Scaroni.
Tiberi was the biggest rival for Del Toro, instead of Remco Evenepoel. The Belgian rider had his first big test of the season and he failed it, losing over 3 minutes to Del Toro in the two ascents of the race. Florian Lipowitz was meanwhile racing in Portugal, but he was never in contention for the win either, finishing in eighth place. He is sitting in fifth place of the ranking nonetheless.

In the year-long rankings, Tadej Pogacar obviously remains firmly in control, almost doubling the second place, which used to be Jonas Vingegaard. However, that is not the case anymore, as Isaac del Toro's masterclass in the Middle East allowed him to overtake the Danish star. Around 500 points separate them, a gap that might be too big for Vingegaard to close before the Giro d'Italia.
There is another change in the top 10, as Juan Ayuso climbed from fifteenth to ninth. The Spaniard switched teams in the off-season, leaving UAE and joining Lidl-Trek after big internal drama, and he seems to have adapted in record time. He made his debut at Volta ao Algarve and secured the overall plus the final stage, earning over 300 points.
The rider climbing the most spots inside the top 100 was Harold Tejada. The Colombian rider was one of the revelations at the UAE Tour, putting on strong performances at the mountain stages and securing a strong fourth place in the overall. He is now in 74th place with 1035 points.
On the other hand, the rider losing the most positions was Pavel Sivakov, who went down 24 spots. The UAE rider won Vuelta a Andalucía last year but could not do the same in this year's edition, as he focused entirely on supporting Joao Almeida.
